Volunteer Screening

Volunteer Screening Committee at St. John Fisher

Dear Parishioners,

The Archdiocese of Toronto has implemented a series of policies and procedures to foster a safe environment for all those who interact with the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Toronto. Those we serve include young people, adults and seniors who all make up the body of Christ among us.

St. John Fisher Parish will continue to implement these requirements.

Our new team is:

  • Parish Volunteer Screening Coordinator - Mignonne Pinto
  • Volunteer Screening Committee Member - Doris Leo

They have been involved with Archdiocese of Toronto Training and will help to ensure we have updated paperwork for all our volunteers.

Volunteers will be required to:

  • Fill in a Volunteer Application form specific to the position for which they are volunteering
  • Participate in an interview with our Volunteer Screening Committee
  • Provide References
  • Obtain a Criminal Reference Check (18 years and older only)

Mignonne and Doris will be contacting all volunteers with the necessary paperwork and further instructions. We thank you for your cooperation.

Thank you and God Bless,

Fr. Regulo Imperial / Mignonne Pinto / Doris Leo

Well done My good and faithful servant. Matthew 25:23

Why Volunteer?
We are all called to use our gifts and talents to strengthen and nurture our Church family and to care for our brothers and sisters. Volunteering is an opportunity to be an active part of your parish, socialize with your church community and give back, in time and talent, the abundance that has been given to you, and that you are called to share.

Who Can Volunteer?
Across the Archdiocese of Toronto, parishes have volunteer opportunities called 'Ministry Positions', each with their own responsibilities and requirements. Ministry Leaders at each parish help determine which Ministry Positions are best suited to parishioners.

Due to risk and responsibility, some parishioners are excluded from certain Ministry Positions, based on:

Age
Criminal Record
Induction into the Catholic Faith
Education and/or Experience in Theology

Where You Can Volunteer:
Most volunteer opportunities occur in local parishes and missions of the Archdiocese. Contact your parish office to find out what is available.

How To Get Started:
Before volunteering can begin, each person must successfully complete the required screening steps related to the volunteer opportunity.
