On Friday, May 1, the Archdiocese of Toronto campus ministries gathered for the fifth annual Graduation Mass. His Eminence Frank Cardinal Leo celebrated the Mass at St. Paul’s Basilica on the Memorial of St. Joseph the Worker for a large group of graduates and their families. In his homily, Cardinal Leo encouraged graduates to be securely rooted in their identity as beloved children of God, to stay close to Jesus and to take St. Joseph as their model.

At a reception following the Mass, the graduating students were honoured for their involvement in campus ministry during their years of study. Each graduate received a gift as a token of appreciation and Cardinal Leo joined the campus ministry groups for celebratory photos. Addressing the graduates who are moving on to new environments, UTSC alumna speaker Alicia Masci offered insightful advice. She encouraged them to continue to develop a life of prayer, to seek out a Catholic community and always to rely on God through whatever challenges life brings.

Students from eight different campus ministries participated in the event. Situated at universities and colleges throughout the Archdiocese, campus ministry offers formation and Catholic community for students at a critical time in their lives. Students in campus ministries are supported in learning more about their faith, growing closer to God, using their gifts to serve others, and living as joyful witnesses to the beauty of the Gospel.
